2024 was a learning year for me (Aaron) as a business owner: Through that learning process, I found that my boarding rate is too low to hire high-quality pet sitters.
I spent some time to check our competition in the area and these are the results I found:

The brick and mortar facilities charge more, offer less, but have more availability. Pups don't get a tailored experience. They're just another number in the group of pups. They don't have the TV on all day, sleep on a couch, or get personalized love and care - unless you pay way more. (it's all included with TRPS).
Rover sitters have the potential to be cheaper than us, but don't have a backup sitter, are more limited on availability, and you don't always know what kind of service you're getting. TRPS sitters are interviewed and I even visit their homes to ensure they meet our standard of top-tier pet care.
My goal with Travelers Rest Pet Sitting is to provide top-tier pet care where all pets in our care are treated as family, they come home safe and happy, and they have a fantastic time while they are with us. Our goal is to include all necessary care in our standard pricing to avoid extra fees for the best care of your dogs.
Our other goal is to give you, the owner, the security to know that we don't have last minute cancelations and we always have a sitter available. We have kept our promise with no last-minute cancellations, but we still run into a problem with always having a sitter available...
... In order for us to remain competitive in the market to hire and retain top-tier pet sitters, we need to increase our pricing to be more in line with our competition. At the same time, I want to keep our rates at price point to give a fair value to our customers.
Starting Jan 1, 2025, our standard boarding rate is increasing to $45/night. Our holiday rate is increasing from $55/night to $60/night.
Our goal is to find more pet sitters around TR in 2025 and expand our reach further into the Northern Greenville Areas and Easley.
